Here are some other things I’ve written in the past:
- Neoliberal technology is shaping our world. Let’s turn the tables on it! A piece written in 2017 advocating a bottom up approach to creating technology which doesn’t enslave us.
- Let’s Solve London’s Housing Crisis Together! Written in 2016 arguing for a decentralised, democratic way of solving the housing crisis.
- A Systems Thinking View of how change can happen. A longish piece, written in 2018 presenting some systemic principles collected from other writers to help understand possible medium to long term trends in industrial civilisation. It considers the (small?) probability of descent into a vortex of civilisational collapse, and asks the question “If that happens, what would we wish we’d done 20 years earlier in order to prepare for this?”. Although it never addressed the impact of a pandemic specifically, I can now see that the combined impacts of Brexit and COVID-19 are playing out the thesis in front of my eyes every evening as I watch Newsnight & TyskySour. I watch and listen with horror.
- Undo Neolib – an attempt, soon after the Brexit referendum, to document in succinct but clear language many of the corrupt, or at least immoral, practices used in today’s business and political world. See for example Shaping Our Common Sense, Management Tricks aka Managerialism or Financial Tricks aka Financial Engineering.
